"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." - Anais Nin
March has been a beautiful month of exploration, determination and grit as we round the corner to finish our 2018 90-Day Transformation Challenge. We have seen the work you are all putting in and it is inspiring to say the least. Stay strong as we sprint for that finish line!
All of the heart, soul and passion that you Boomers bring to LFT does not go unrecognized. We see you and we appreciate each and every one of you.
Today we are recognizing one Boomer in particular who has a sparkle in her step. Her dedication and commitment are admirable and she maintains a quiet strength that inspires those around her every day.
We are thrilled to announce our March Boomer of the Month: Amy Crandall!!
I had the pleasure of speaking with Amy and learning more about what makes her tick.
What brought you to Live For This Fitness?
FitLo – My friend Tricia is the owner/founder. She referred me to LFT because of the coaches and energy. Her website is fitlodenver.com.
What were your initial health and fitness goals?
To increase muscle mass and total body strength.
How long have you been training at LFT?
For almost 2 years.
How often do you train? Which days/classes?
I train at the 5 AM class Monday through Friday and sometimes on the weekend if I slacked a little during the week.
What changes have you noticed since you started working out at LFT? (Both physical and mental)
I have become physically stronger than I’ve ever been. I have done crossfit and boot camp type classes before, but the consistency and energy of LFT led me to be in the best shape of my life. I also feel working out consistently has increased my mental health. Since I was a kid, I have been quiet and self-conscious when it comes to mingling with other people. I definitely have never liked to be in the spotlight. Working out at LFT with the awesome coaches and Boomers has helped me overcome some of my insecurities. Everyone is super nice and energetic, it has been great to spend my mornings at LFT!
What have you learned so far by working out consistently at LFT?
The right way to do it. For example, before coming to LFT, I have not been able to get low enough on my squats. The coaches at LFT really work with you on your form.
What motivates you during a particularly tough workout?
The coaches, music, and of course my fellow Boomers.
What is your favorite thing about LFT?
The coaches and fellow Boomers
Are you participating in the 90-Day Transformation Challenge? If yes, how is it going?
Yes. Coming to workout every day at 5:00 AM or waking up at about 4:00 is easier if you do it every day. Besides coming home at night to my family, LFT workouts are the best time of my day.
What are your long term health and fitness goals?
Stay consistent with working out and eating healthy.
What is your favorite exercise and why?
Probably GTO (Ground-to-Overhead) because it works both your legs, shoulders and a variety of other muscle group.
What is an exercise that really challenges you?
Thrusters and Front Squats. It is always a challenge for me to increase weight in these two movements and keep my elbows up.
Bonus question: What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
I am a big geology (really any kind of science) nerd.
Finally, I’m going to give you 6 categories and I want you to give me your recommendation in each. Let these answers just be the first thing that comes to mind.
Food - Dark Chocolate
Music - Any Jazz
Book - Stephen King: 11.22.63
Film/television - Wonder Woman
Person - Jesus
Misc. (anything at all in your life that you recommend) - Always trust in the God and maintain confidence in whatever you do.
Congratulations Amy! You are one special lady! Now that you've blossomed you can enjoy your moment in the LFT spotlight, you deserve it!
