"You're always one decision away from a totally different life." - Anonymous
Wait, someone pinch me...is the 90 Day Transformation Challenge really over?? What do we do now?? Aside from anxiously waiting to find out who the challenge finalists are at the 90-DTC party, I don’t know what to do with myself! I feel as though I have Stockholm syndrome and I’ve grown fond of the captors who have been holding me (accountable) for 90 days. I’ve just gotten used to this new life...don’t leave me now! Oh the tempting food! Oh the potential slacking that can occur. Don’t leave me captors!
What do we do now?
We keep going, my friends, we keep going.
These were not habits to adopt for 90 days. This is not a finish line you cross and then walk away from. These are habits to adopt for life. When you reach a mountain peak you don't just wander back down the mountain and lay in a field for the rest of your days. You find another damn mountain to climb!
There is much more to say on this topic but for now....RESULTS!!!
As many of you know I followed Coach Lance’s LG1 Nutrition Program in addition to showing up consistently (and working my tail off) at LFT workouts. The initial question I raised in part 1 of this blog series was “should you hire a nutritionist?” At the beginning of this challenge I was still overweight after having a baby and found myself at a plateau. So when I was asked to become an LFT guinea pig for Coach Lance's nutrition program, of course I accepted! There was no telling if it would work for me or not, but I dug in my heels and set off on my guinea piggy way to find out if nutrition really mattered.
So does it?
See for yourself. Here are my final 90-DTC results.
What does all this jibber jabber mean?
What this all says in a nutshell is IT WORKED! And DAMN did it work! Can we all stop and have a laugh at the fact that my initial goal was to “maybe lose 10 lbs”.
In 90 days (ok ok add a few days since I did the scan on January 5th)
I started at LFT at 167 lbs. I was lifting next to nothing, but I was insanely determined.
Today I weighed 135 lbs (my morning naked scale weight). In just over 9 months I’ve lost 32 lbs and I’m lifting heavy and loving every minute of it! I feel (and look) like a completely different person.
What makes this even sweeter?
One of the things that makes me most proud is that I managed to get these results without taking creatine or BCAAs, with no fasting or food deprivation, without pre-workout drinks and without excessive exercise or two-a-days.
Is there anything wrong with taking those supplements, pre-workout drinks, intermittent fasting or extra workouts? Absolutely not! If you recover properly you can do whatever you want (In fact you should read my article on overtraining)
However, my priority from the beginning was to only do things that I could maintain for a lifetime, to not do anything that felt unhealthy or obsessive and to not do anything that would affect my milk supply for my little dude.
I hope this helps if you are feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of reaching your fitness goals. Yes you have to be consistent. Yes you have to put in the work. Yes it will be challenging. But you don't have to give up everything to make it happen. You don't have to give up time with your loved ones. You can have that glass of wine or that slice of pizza once in a while (that means about once a week folks). You can find foods that are delicious, healthy and macro friendly. You can make these changes and you can keep them for life. You are not too busy. You have the discipline. You will succeed. Lose the excuses and make the changes. Don't stand in your own way.
I said it from the very beginning if I can do it, anyone can.
Will it be easy? Of course not. But is it worth all the effort? In every way YES! Just show up and do what your LFT coaches ask you to do. Follow a balanced diet like Coach Lance’s LG1 Nutrition Program, let him crunch the numbers and tell you what to eat. IT WILL WORK. It is science, follow the rules and your body will change.
BOOMers it is yours to take, just reach out and grab it.
